3,929. The Kohein Gadol and Marriage

Hilchos Klei HaMikdash 5:9

If the Kohein Gadol has information relevant to a court case, he is not obligated to testify, not even in the Great Sanhedrin, because testifying in court is not in his honor. If the testimony concerns a king of Israel, then he must go to the Great Sanhedrin and testify.

Hilchos Klei HaMikdash 5:10

The Rambam tells us that we have already addressed how a Kohein Gadol may not marry a widow and is obligated to marry a virgin (Issurei Biah 1:1 and 1:13, respectively). He may not have two wives and if he marries two women, he may not perform the Yom Kippur service until he divorces one. The Kohein Gadol may perform chalitzah if necessary, and chalitzah and yibum may be performed with his widow. If the Kohein Gadol divorces a woman, she is permitted to marry someone else.
