#222: Washing the Floor (Part 2)
1. We learned yesterday that one may only wash a tiled floor on Shabbat if it is very important (such as in a hospital), the floor is very dirty, or only a portion of the floor is washed (though some are strict even about that). Based on this, many poskim would permit washing the area of the floor around the table since this is only one portion of the room.
2. If someone vomits or spills a large amount of food or drink on the floor, it is permitted to wash as much of the floor as necessary. In both of these cases, the floor is considered very dirty, and in the first case, it can be classified as a case of extreme importance to wash the floor.
