3,595. When to Bring First Fruits
Hilchos Bikkurim 2:5
Those who are close to Jerusalem should bring fresh figs and grapes as first fruits; those who are far away should bring dried figs and grapes.
Hilchos Bikkurim 2:6
First fruits are not brought before Shavuos, regarding which Exodus 23:16 says “the harvest festival, the first fruits of your labor.” If one brings them prematurely, they’re not accepted from him. Rather, they’re left there until Shavuos, at which point he makes the appropriate recitation over them. Similarly, first fruits aren’t brought after Chanukah. This is because first fruits that ripen after Chanukah are considered produce of the subsequent year and are held over until Shavuos.
