3,594. Bringing the Best Produce

Hilchos Bikkurim 2:3

First fruits are not brought from dates that grow in the mountains, fruit that grows in the valleys, or from olives that produce sub-par oil. Rather, they are brought from dates that grow in the valleys and fruit that grows in the mountains because these are the best. If someone brings first fruits of an inferior type – such as the aforementioned mountain dates, or punctured figs that were oiled, or smoked and ashy grapes – they’re not sanctified.

Hilchos Bikkurim 2:4

With the exception of olive oil and grape wine, liquids are not brought as first fruits. This is derived from Deuteronomy 26:2: “the fruit of the land” – i.e., not liquids. If one brought liquids as first fruits, they’re not accepted from him.
