1,135. Idols

167:1 It's forbidden to derive any benefit from idols, their accessories, their ornaments or their offerings. If one of these things got mixed up among permitted objects, even in a ratio of one to a thousand, they are all prohibited. Accessories of an idol include the vessels used in its service, the pedestal on which it sits, and instruments played in its service. Ornaments include candles lit before it, clothes draped over it and things placed around it for beauty. Trees that are planted for an idol are considered an ornament, so one may not even sit in their shade. Offerings include the food placed before an idol.

167:2 The idols of a non-Jew, as well as its accessories and ornaments, can be nullified. When the non-Jew actively nullifies it so that it won't be considered an idol any longer, nor the accessories or ornaments as those of idolatry, they become permitted. An idol belonging to an apostate Jew cannot be nullified.
