#114: Lechem Mishneh (Part 6)
- We mentioned yesterday that most poskim permit using two challot which merged together during baking as two challot with respect to lechem mishneh. Nevertheless, it would seem that all opinions would agree that pull-apart challah (which have smaller pieces intentionally merged together during baking) is considered one challah with respect to lechem mishneh. Thus it would need to be accompanied by another challah, since the intent is for the pieces of the pull-apart challah to become one challah.
- If a challah is partially broken, it may still be used for lechem mishneh if it holds together when picked up. If one side falls off when picked up, then it no longer counts as whole (Piskei Teshuvot 274:10).
