3,451. Households Where Only Some Members Are Trustworthy

If someone is not personally considered trustworthy regarding tithes but his son, servant or another family member is, then food may be taken from him without concern on their say-so.
Hilchos Maaser 10:5
If someone is considered trustworthy but his wife isn’t, one may buy produce from him but not be his guest. If the wife is considered trustworthy but the husband isn’t, one may be a guest but not buy produce from him. The Rambam severely chastises one whose wife is considered trustworthy but who is not trustworthy himself.
