3,359. Terumah That Falls Into Maaser or Hekdesh
Terumos 14:10
Let’s say that a seah of terumah fell into fewer than 100 seah of first tithe from which terumas maaser has not been taken, or second tithe or consecrated property that have not been redeemed, thereby creating meduma mixtures. If into first tithe, the terumas maaser is designated and then the whole mixture is sold to kohanim, less the values of the terumah that fell in and the terumas maaser. If it fell into second tithe or consecrated property that weren’t redeemed, they are redeemed and then sold to a kohein, less the value of the terumah.
Terumos 14:11
If a seah of ritually unclean terumah falls into fewer than 100 seah of secular produce, or into first tithe, second tithe or consecrated property, the mixture is meduma. This is the case regardless of whether they are ritually clean or unclean. The entirety of such a mixture is like ritually unclean terumah, i.e., it is prohibited to everyone and must be left to decay. This is the case regarding produce that isn’t eaten raw; things that are eaten raw aren’t put aside out of concern that someone might find and eat them. In such a case, the mixture is burned as fuel, just like ritually unclean terumah.
