2,977. Consecrating a Field Unfit for Planting

Hilchos Arachin Vacharamin 4:16

If someone consecrates a field that isn’t suitable for planting and is considered rocky land, it is redeemed for its actual value. Similarly, if someone consecrates trees alone, they are redeemed for their actual value.

Hilchos Arachin Vacharamin 4:17

Let’s say that there were three trees planted in an area large enough to plant a seah. If the owner didn’t specify that he was only consecrating the trees, he is considered to have consecrated the land, as well as the saplings between the trees. However, if the trees were spread out, such as three or fewer trees per area sufficient to plant a seah, or if he consecrated the trees individually, then he is not considered to have consecrated the land or the saplings between the trees.
