2,953. Committing the Valuation of an Organ
Hilchos Arachin Vacharamin 2:1
If someone commits the valuation of his hand, his eye or his foot, or of someone else’s hand, eye or foot, his words are ineffective. If he commits the valuation of his heart or his liver, or that of another person, then he must pay that person’s entire valuation. The same is true of any organ whose removal would cause a person to die; if someone commits its valuation, he must pay the valuation of that whole person.
Hilchos Arachin Vacharamin 2:2
If someone commits to pay half of his valuation, he pays half of his valuation. If he commits to pay the valuation of half of himself, then he must pay his entire valuation. This is because it would be impossible to survive with half his body removed.
