2,946. Where Does the Money Go?
Hilchos Arachin Vacharamin 1:10
Unless otherwise earmarked, all valuations and commitments for a person’s value go to Temple upkeep. These funds are placed in a chamber in the Temple that is designated for money consecrated for Temple upkeep.
Hilchos Arachin Vacharamin 1:11
If a non-Jew commits his own value or the value of a third party, he must pay what he vowed. This money isn’t put in the designated chamber because pledges and vows from non-Jews weren’t used for Temple upkeep or the maintenance of Jerusalem. This is because Ezra 4:3 says, “It is not for you to build the Temple with us,” and Nehemiah 2:20 says, “You have no portion, right or memorial in Jerusalem.”
