(טו) וְכׇל־הָעָם֩ רֹאִ֨ים אֶת־הַקּוֹלֹ֜ת וְאֶת־הַלַּפִּידִ֗ם וְאֵת֙ ק֣וֹל הַשֹּׁפָ֔ר וְאֶת־הָהָ֖ר עָשֵׁ֑ן וַיַּ֤רְא הָעָם֙ וַיָּנֻ֔עוּ וַיַּֽעַמְד֖וּ מֵֽרָחֹֽק׃ (טז) וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה דַּבֵּר־אַתָּ֥ה עִמָּ֖נוּ וְנִשְׁמָ֑עָה וְאַל־יְדַבֵּ֥ר עִמָּ֛נוּ אֱלֹהִ֖ים פֶּן־נָמֽוּת׃ (יז) וַיֹּ֨אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֣ה אֶל־הָעָם֮ אַל־תִּירָ֒אוּ֒ כִּ֗י לְבַֽעֲבוּר֙ נַסּ֣וֹת אֶתְכֶ֔ם בָּ֖א הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וּבַעֲב֗וּר תִּהְיֶ֧ה יִרְאָת֛וֹ עַל־פְּנֵיכֶ֖ם לְבִלְתִּ֥י תֶחֱטָֽאוּ׃ (יח) וַיַּעֲמֹ֥ד הָעָ֖ם מֵרָחֹ֑ק וּמֹשֶׁה֙ נִגַּ֣שׁ אֶל־הָֽעֲרָפֶ֔ל אֲשֶׁר־שָׁ֖ם הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃ {ס}

(טו) וְכָל עַמָא חָזָן יָת קָלַיָא וְיָת בָּעוֹרַיָא וְיָת קַל שׁוֹפָרָא וְיָת טוּרָא תָּנֵן וַחֲזָא עַמָא וְזָעוּ וְקָמוּ מֵרָחִיק: (טז) וַאֲמָרוּ לְמשֶׁה מַלֵל אַתְּ עִמָנָא וּנְקַבֵּל וְלָא יִתְמַלֵל עִמָנָא מִן קֳדָם יְיָ דִילְמָא נְמוּת: (יז) וַאֲמַר משֶׁה לְעַמָא לָא תִדְחֲלוּן אֲרֵי בְּדִיל לְנַסָאָה יָתְכוֹן אִתְגְלִי לְכוֹן יְקָרָא דַיְיָ וּבְדִיל דִתְהֵי דַחַלְתֵּהּ עַל אַפֵּיכוֹן בְּדִיל דְלָא תְחוּבוּן: (יח) וְקָם עַמָא מֵרָחִיק וּמשֶׁה קָרֵב לְצַד אַמִיטְתָא דִתַמָן יְקָרָא דַיְיָ:

15. All the people saw the thunder[1] and the lightning, the sound of the shofar and the mountain smoking. The people saw, they trembled and they stood at a distance. 16. They said to Moshe, “You speak with us and we will accept it; let it not be spoken with us from before Hashem, lest we die.” 17. Moshe said to the people, “Do not fear because the glory of Hashem was revealed to you in order to test you, and in order that awe of Him may be before you,[2] so that you do not sin.” 18. The people stood at a distance and Moshe drew near the side of the darkness where Hashem’s glory was.

(יט) וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה כֹּ֥ה תֹאמַ֖ר אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אַתֶּ֣ם רְאִיתֶ֔ם כִּ֚י מִן־הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם דִּבַּ֖רְתִּי עִמָּכֶֽם׃ (כ) לֹ֥א תַעֲשׂ֖וּן אִתִּ֑י אֱלֹ֤הֵי כֶ֙סֶף֙ וֵאלֹהֵ֣י זָהָ֔ב לֹ֥א תַעֲשׂ֖וּ לָכֶֽם׃ (כא) מִזְבַּ֣ח אֲדָמָה֮ תַּעֲשֶׂה־לִּי֒ וְזָבַחְתָּ֣ עָלָ֗יו אֶת־עֹלֹתֶ֙יךָ֙ וְאֶת־שְׁלָמֶ֔יךָ אֶת־צֹֽאנְךָ֖ וְאֶת־בְּקָרֶ֑ךָ בְּכׇל־הַמָּקוֹם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אַזְכִּ֣יר אֶת־שְׁמִ֔י אָב֥וֹא אֵלֶ֖יךָ וּבֵרַכְתִּֽיךָ׃ (כב) וְאִם־מִזְבַּ֤ח אֲבָנִים֙ תַּֽעֲשֶׂה־לִּ֔י לֹֽא־תִבְנֶ֥ה אֶתְהֶ֖ן גָּזִ֑ית כִּ֧י חַרְבְּךָ֛ הֵנַ֥פְתָּ עָלֶ֖יהָ וַתְּחַֽלְלֶֽהָ׃ (כג) וְלֹֽא־תַעֲלֶ֥ה בְמַעֲלֹ֖ת עַֽל־מִזְבְּחִ֑י אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹֽא־תִגָּלֶ֥ה עֶרְוָתְךָ֖ עָלָֽיו׃ {פ}

(יט) וַאֲמַר יְיָ לְמשֶׁה כִּדְנַן תֵּימַר לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אַתּוּן חֲזִיתּוּן אֲרֵי מִן שְׁמַיָא מַלֵילִית עִמְכוֹן: (כ) לָא תַעְבְּדוּן קֳדָמָי דַחֲלָן דִכְסַף וְדַחֲלָן דִדְהַב לָא תַעְבְּדוּן לְכוֹן: (כא) מַדְבַּח אַדְמְתָא תַּעְבֵּד קֳדָמַי וּתְהֵי דַבָּח עֲלוֹהִי יָת עֲלָוָתָךְ וְיָת נִכְסַת קוּדְשָׁךְ מִן עָנָךְ וּמִן תּוֹרָךְ בְּכָל אַתְרָא דִי אַשְׁרֵי יָת שְׁכִנְתִּי לְתַמָן אֶשְׁלַח בִּרְכְּתִי לָךְ וֶאֱבָרֵכִנָךְ: (כב) וְאִם מַדְבַּח אַבְנִין תַּעְבֵּד קֳדָמַי לָא תִבְנֵי יָתְהוֹן פְּסִילָן דִלְמָא תְרִים חַרְבָּךְ עֲלַהּ וּתְחַלְלִנַהּ: (כג) וְלָא תִסַק בְּדַרְגִין עַל מַדְבְּחִי דִי לָא תִתְגְלֵי עֶרְיְתָךְ עֲלוֹהִי:

19. Hashem said to Moshe, “Thus shall you say to the children of Israel: You saw that I spoke to you from the heavens. 20. Do not make before Me idols[3] of silver, and idols of gold you shall not make for yourselves. 21. Make before Me an altar of earth and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your holiness offerings[4] from your sheep and from your oxen. In every place that I cause My presence to dwell, there I will send My blessing to you and bless you. 22. If you make an altar of stones before Me, do not build them of hewn (stones); do not raise your sword upon it and desecrate it. 23. Do not ascend My altar by steps so that your nakedness not be revealed upon it.
