2,574. Are We Concerned About This Animal?

Hilchos Shechita 9:9

If an animal is after to walk after falling from a roof, we are not concerned that it might have been rendered treif; if it stood but didn’t walk, then we are concerned. If the animal jumped from the roof intentionally, we are unconcerned. If someone left their animal on a roof and later found it on the ground, we are not concerned that it may have fallen.

Hilchos Shechita 9:10

If male animals butt one another, we are not concerned that they might have been rendered treif; if one of them falls to the ground, then we are concerned. Similarly, if an animal drags its feet, we are not concerned that its organs might have been crushed or its spine broken.
