2,559. Connected Lobes
Hilchos Shechita 8:5
If one lobe is found stuck to the adjacent lobe, the animal is permitted, but if they’re attached out of order, such as the first lobe is stuck to the third lobe, then the animal’s a treifa.
Hilchos Shechita 8:6
Let’s say that two lobes look like one lobe rather than two lobes stuck together. If there’s a space around the size of a myrtle leaf in between them at any point, be it the base, the center or the end, this makes it clear that they’re two lobes that are connected, and the animal is permitted. If there’s no such space, the animal is deficient and a treifa.
