2,526. A Non-Jew Who Performs Shechita
Hilchos Shechita 4:11
If a non-Jew slaughters – even if he does so in the front of a Jew, with a sharp knife, and even if he’s a minor – his slaughter is a neveila and one is liable to lashes under Biblical law for eating it as per Exodus 34:15, “because he will invite you and you will eat his slaughter.” Since the Torah warns against eating from his slaughter, we see that it’s prohibited. He therefore isn’t like a Jew who doesn’t know the laws of shechita.
Hilchos Shechita 4:12
The Sages made an important fence around this matter: they ruled that even an animal slaughtered by a non-Jew who doesn’t worship idols is a neveila.
