Sanhedrin 9:4-5

Sanhedrin 9:4

If a person is liable for two forms of court-imposed execution, he is executed using the harsher method. If a person commits a single act that renders him liable for two forms of execution, he is executed using the harsher method. Rabbi Yosi says that such an offender is sentenced to the form of execution that he became liable to first.

Sanhedrin 9:5

If an offender was lashed but he repeated his crime, the court puts him in the dome (a prison) and they feed him barley until his stomach bursts. If a person committed murdered but the witnesses are insufficient to execute, they put him into the dome and feed him minimal bread and water.
