2,172. Secondary Relations
Hilchos Issurei Biah 14:15
Let’s say that a man marries a female convert plus her daughter who also converted, or he married two converted sisters who have the same mother. In such a case, he should remain married to one woman and divorce the other. If he married a convert and she died, he may marry her mother or daughter because the Sages only enacted this law during a woman’s lifetime. A man is permitted to marry two converted sisters who have the same father because the Sages didn’t enact any laws about paternal relatives as has already been discussed.
Hilchos Issurei Biah 14:16
The Sages also didn’t enact any laws about secondary relatives who convert. Therefore, a convert may marry his maternal grandmother, or a man may marry a convert and her maternal grandmother’s mother, or a convert and her daughter’s daughter’s daughter. Similar laws apply to all the other secondary relations.
