316. Waiting Between Meat and Dairy
46:9 One who ate meat, or even a dish cooked with meat, should not eat dairy for six hours. (Different customs exist as to the exact period of time one must wait.) This is true even if one merely chewed meat for a baby and did not swallow any. Even if one waited the requisite amount of time, if he still has meat between his teeth, it must be removed. This does not, however, obligate him to wait any longer. Instead, he must just cleanse and rinse his mouth before eating dairy. This is done by eating some bread and rinsing with water or some other beverage. 46:10 If the meal contained neither meat nor meat ingredients, but it was cooked in a meat pot, one may eat dairy afterward without waiting. This is true even if the pot was not thoroughly cleaned.
