374. Borei Pri Ho’eitz

51:15 If someone ate or drank and then brought up what he ate, he should not say the concluding bracha; this is considered like one who already digested his food.

52:1 On fruit that grows on trees, we recite the bracha “borei pri ho’eitz.” For produce that grows from the ground, like vegetables, beans, corn, etc., we recite "borei pri ho’adomah.” “Tree” for our purposes refers specifically to one whose branches remain in the winter and produce leaves in the spring, even if they are as thin as flax stalks. If the branches of a tree fall off in winter leaving only the trunk, this is not what we mean by a tree and the bracha on its fruit is ho’adomah.
