#442: Fast Paced Animals or Insects
1. We learned yesterday that poskim disagree whether one may trap a very slow-moving animal or insect, such as an ant. But even the lenient opinions would not permit trapping a faster-moving insect, such as a very fast spider or a cockroach.
2. All opinions agree that one may pour water or other substances on a surface to prevent these animals from moving farther. Thus, one may spray or pour water on a counter in one area to prevent ants from coming (R. Karelitz, cited in the Dirshu Mishnah Berurah 316, n.10), although one may not kill insects directly in such a manner (killing insects will be discussed separately at a later date).
