1. Nursing a baby is certainly permitted on Shabbat. However, expressing milk into a container for the baby is forbidden, as this violates the melachah of extracting [mefarek], a toldah of threshing [dosh] (Shulchan Aruch 328:34; Mishnah Berurah 328:111).

2. If a mother is in pain due to being unable to nurse, and it is necessary to express milk into a container, she should first pour soap or another substance that will ruin the milk into the container to render the milk unusable (Shemirat Shabbat K'hilchatah 36:21).
