4,124. Where to Slaughter Offerings

Hilchos Maasei Hakarbanos 5:1

We previously discussed that the slaughter of sacrificial animals is valid even when performed by non-kohanim. The receiving of the blood and all subsequent services must be performed only by kohanim. The blood of all offerings must be received in a service vessel held in a kohein’s hand. The place where the animals are slaughtered and their blood is received is not the same for all offerings.

Hilchos Maasei Hakarbanos 5:2

Pursuant to the preceding halacha, offerings of the highest sanctity must be slaughtered and their blood received north of the altar within the borders delineated earlier; offerings of lesser sanctity may be slaughtered and their blood received anywhere within the courtyard.
