QUESTION: I made frozen ice pops with non-mevushal grape juice. I left my cleaning help alone in the house. What is the status of these frozen pops?

ANSWER: The Rema (YD 123:5) writes that kosher wine that congealed (i.e., became solid) and certainly wine that is absorbed into utensils is not subject to the concerns of maga nochri; handling of nochri. Only liquid wine which can be poured is a concern. Shach points out that if the wine would reliquify, it would go back to its original status of non-mevushal wine. Since the grape juice pops were frozen, even if the cleaning help cleaned out the fridge and moved the ices, they would remain permitted so long as they remained frozen. If the cleaning help was left alone in the house for such a long time, that she could have taken out the ices, let them melt and then put them back in and have them refreeze, and she knew that no one would be returning to the house during this entire time, then the ice pops would be questionable.
