#233: Climbing Trees (Part 3)

1. We learned last week that an adult who climbs a tree on Shabbat may not come down if he or she is aware that it is forbidden. Some suggest that nevertheless, the person may descend if they must use the restroom (Pnei Shabbat 3:11).

2. Others rule that the prohibition does not apply to jumping down in one action from the tree. They explain that jumping is not included in the prohibition, which applies only to climbing down the way one climbs up (Shemirat Shabbat K'hilchatah ch.26, n.45, citing R. Shlomo Zalman Auerbach).
