#209: Flowers in a Vase (Part 2)

1. We mentioned yesterday that one may not place flowers whose petals have not fully opened into water on Shabbat. Some poskim forbid placing flowers whose petals are already fully open in water for the first time on Shabbat (Sha’ar Hatziun 336: ). Other poskim permit this if the water was prepared before Shabbat. (Orchot Shabbat 18:5; Yalkut Yosef 336:11).

2. All agree that one may put flowers whose petals are already fully open back into a vase filled with water that they were in previously (Mishnah Berurah 336:54).
