3,836. The Four Altars of History

Hilchos Beis HaBechirah 2:5

The altar built by Moshe, the altar built by Shlomo, the altar built by the exiles returning from Babylonia and the altar that will be built in the future are each ten cubits tall. Yes, Exodus 27:1 says, “Its height will be three cubits,” but that refers to the surface on which the woodpile for the sacrifices was arranged. The length and width of the altars built by the returning exiles and the altar to be built in the future are each 32x32 cubits.

Hilchos Beis HaBechirah 2:6

The ten cubits of the altar’s height were sometimes measured using a cubit of six handbreadths, and sometimes using a cubit of five handbreadths. Every other cubit used in building the Temple is a cubit of six handbreadths. The total height of the altar was fifty-eight handbreadths.
