3,455. Feeding Demai to a Patient
Hilchos Maaser 10:12
Charity collectors accept donations from everyone without specifying whether produce was tithed and they distribute what they collected without specifying if it was tithed. If the recipient wants to rectify the produce, he does so.
Hilchos Maaser 10:13
If a learned doctor is feeding an unlearned patient from the produce of an unlearned person, he may put the food in the patient’s hand but not in his mouth. If the demai belongs to the doctor, he may not even put it in the patient’s hand. Similarly, if he knows the food to be untithed (tevel), he may not put it in the patient’s hand.
