1,055. A Nocturnal Emission

151:4 At the nighttime meal, one should not eat or drink excessively, nor should he eat or drink things that heat up a person, like fatty meat, dairy products, eggs or garlic. All of these things can lead a person to sin.

151:5 If a man has a nocturnal emission, upon awakening, he should wash his hands and recite the following prayer with sincerity: "Master of the universe, this happened unintentionally because of bad thoughts and bad intentions. Therefore, may it be Your will, Hashem  my G-d and G-d of my fathers, to erase this sin with Your many mercies and to save me from future bad thoughts and similar things forever. Amen, so may it be Your will."
