2,975. Consecrating a Field After Yoveil

Hilchos Arachin Vacharamin 4:12

If someone consecrates a field after yoveil, it’s not redeemed through a pro-rated amount until a full year after yoveil. This is because, as we have said, we don’t count individual months when it comes to consecrated property. Accordingly, if someone wants to pay 50 shekel for each chomer that can be planted, he can redeem it even the day after yoveil with no price reduction.

Hilchos Arachin Vacharamin 4:13

When measuring a field, we only measure those areas that are suitable for planting. Stones ten handbreadths tall (approximately 30”) and cavities filled with water ten handbreadths deep are not measured with the field; those smaller than this are measured with it.
