2,969. Consecrating an Ancestral Field
Hilchos Arachin Vacharamin 3:20
The previous halacha (about selling seized property immediately) only applies to movable property and servants. When it comes to real estate, the sale is announced morning and evening for 60 days in a row, after which it is sold.
Hilchos Arachin Vacharamin 4:1
A field that one has inherited is called an ancestral field; one that a person buys or otherwise acquires is called an acquired field. If someone consecrates an ancestral field, it is measured and its valuation is the fixed amount specified by the Torah.
