2,950. Committing Multiple Valuations
Hilchos Arachin Vacharamin 1:18
If someone commits to pay the valuation of multiple people, he must pay their combined valuations based each one’s age. If he’s a needy person, he pays one valuation of the poor for all of them.* If he’s a rich person, he pays the valuation of the wealthy for each of them.
Hilchos Arachin Vacharamin 1:19
If someone says, “I commit my valuation,” after which he repeats, “I commit my valuation,” he must pay a valuation for each commitment. This is true even if he repeats this statement many times. If he says, “I commit two of my valuations” – or four valuations, or even 1,000 valuations – he must pay the number of valuations that he committed.
