2,931. Which Nazir Was Rendered Unclean?
Hilchos Nezirus 9:13
Let’s say that a man says that he’ll be a nazir when he fathers a son and he puts animals aside for his offering. His wife miscarries but she later gives birth. In such a case, the animals’ status is in doubt. It is prohibited to shear them or to work them.
Hilchos Nezirus 9:14
Let’s say that there are two nazirs, one of whom was rendered unclean through corpse impurity but we don’t know which. In such a case, they bring their impurity offerings and their purity offerings at the end of their nezirus. One of them says, “If I was the one who was rendered unclean, then the impurity offerings are mine and the purity offerings are yours. If I’m the one who remained clean, then the purity offerings are mine and the impurity offerings are yours.” After bringing these offerings, they then wait the length of another nezirus period and bring another set of purity offerings. One of them says, “If I was the one who was rendered unclean, then the impurity offerings were mine and the purity offerings were yours, so these are my purity offerings. If I was the one who remained clean, then purity offerings were mine and the impurity offerings were yours, so these are your purity offerings.” In this way, neither one loses anything through his offerings.
