2,896. Someone Else Rendering a Nazir Unclean
Hilchos Nezirus 5:19
Let’s say that a nazir unintentionally enters a tent with a corpse in it or a cemetery, after which he finds this out. He is then warned but he doesn’t jump up and exit, choosing instead to remain there. In such a case, he is liable to lashes so long as he stayed there for the duration it would take to prostrate, the same as a ritually unclean person who enters the Temple.
Hilchos Nezirus 5:20
Let’s say that someone else renders a nazir ritually unclean. If the nazir was a willing participant, he is liable to lashes and the one who rendered him unclean violates the prohibition of lifnei iver (misleading others). If the nazir was unaware and the other person intentionally rendered him unclean, neither of them is liable to lashes. You might think that one who renders a nazir unclean should be liable to lashes, but Numbers 6:9 says, “He impurifies his nazir head.” We see that one is only liable if the nazir willingly participates in his own contamination.
